Baseball and Softball Offseason Strength Training Program
What do home runs, fastballs, and jaw dropping diving plays at shortstop have in common? Power. And what’s the prerequisite for power? Strength.
You don’t have to read beyond the MLB headlines to see how important strength is to baseball. It seems like every week another major league player is getting busted for performance-enhancing drugs. If that doesn’t convince you, take a second and glance at your son or daughter’s team. Who are the best hitters on the team? After you peel away the skill contribution, 9 times out of 10, they are usually the strongest kids on the team.
This is the offseason where everything changes. We’re finally opening the doors to our athletic training programs. Our offseason baseball and softball strength training program starts October 1st and will run in 4 week phases until the high school baseball and softball season starts.
When: Twice weekly 70 minute sessions (Times and days will be determined once the players are signed up)
Ages: 7th grade – high school
Cost: $79 per 4 week session (8 workouts per session)
Trainers: T.J., Pete, and Brad
Start: October 1st (A new 4 week phase will start at the beginning of each month)
Limitations: No more than 4 players will be allowed per training session. We are only accepting a total of 8 players per session. Spots are filled on a first-come-first-serve basis, with players training in the preceding month having priority.
The hips are everything when it comes to hitting and pitching. Thus, our primary focus will be strengthening the hips and core to create maximal rotational power.
The secondary focus will be position specific. Pitchers will focus on prehab exercises to create functional, healthy shoulders that can withstand the season. Shortstops will focus on lateral speed to increase their range. Outfielders will focus on linear speed for not only the base paths but also to track down fly balls.
Spots are limited. Please call us at 217-839-2484 or e-mail us at email@example.com for more information or to reserve your spot. You can also pick up a form at the front counter at the gym.
