If there’s one thing we need at Ageless, it’s a little more estrogen making some of the decisions at the gym. I’m extremely excited to announce that beginning October 1st, Ageless will have new owners. Corrie Laux and my parents will be taking over the gym.
With new owners come new ideas, energy, and opportunities. Although the majority of the things will remain the same, you’ll definitely see several new classes (for kids and adults), contests, and more at the gym.
Corrie, being an active mother of 3, brings not only a fresh, new female/mother perspective to the gym, but she’s also bringing a few ideas from other gyms as well as creating her own. We’ve always had bootcamps and have seen great success, but it will be nice to offer other classes for women of all ages (middle school to adults). She’s focused on making the gym as parent-friendly as possible too. Check the new schedules coming out!!!
My parents have been involved in youth athletics for the last 20+ years. Although we did have little kids’ sports leagues last year (they were all a huge hit), we only tapped 20% of its potential. Because I was focused on fitness and we only had so much room in the gym, the youth leagues took a backseat to our fitness classes and training. Now that my parents will be part owners, their focus is solely on offering as many kids’ programs as possible at the most convenient times for parents.
Why the change? The gym needs new energy and ideas. Because of my schedule at the pharmacy (plus I’m opening a new compounding pharmacy in 2013) as well as training athletes in the evening, I haven’t had the time or the energy to grow the gym like I should. It’s not fair to Pete, our members, or the community. My sister and parents are passionate about the community and about Ageless. I cannot think of a better combination of owners. They offer so much that I can’t possibly offer.
And the best part about it, the transfer of ownership will allow us to expand the physical size of the gym. We had mentioned adding a full court basketball gym to Ageless last year. We had hoped to start it this September. Unfortunately with the economy, adding an 8000 square foot addition to the gym isn’t feasible. However, adding a 4000 square foot addition is. Not only will that allow us to expand our athletic training programs, but it will also give us the opportunity to offer adult fitness classes and kids’ classes/sports at the same time, as well as expand our gym equipment selection. We’ve set a goal to have the new addition built by the end of 2013 at the latest.
I love Ageless. It’s brought Amber and I more joy than we could have ever imagined. We’ve made so many great friends over the last 3+ years at the gym. When we were in Destin this summer, we joined Gold’s Gym for a week. It only took us 1 workout to realize how lucky we are to have a gym like Ageless and members like you. You’ve really spoiled us. Owning a business wasn’t supposed to be this fun. If I honestly didn’t think this would be the best decision for Ageless, I wouldn’t do it. But it is. Trust me, you’re in good hands. I wouldn’t trust the gym with anyone else.
By the way, Amber and I will still be fixtures at the gym. Amber and I will be “beefing” up the athletic training programs in the new addition of the gym.
