Seriously, what we eat affects everything. Our cholesterol, our weight, our blood sugar, the strength of our muscles, bones, and connective tissues, our energy level, our mood, our appearance and the confidence or lack of confidence that comes with it, and our self-esteem are all determined in large part by what we put in our mouth.
Currently, I am reading The Tipping Point by Malcolm Gladwell. In the book, Gladwell explains how one single person or action can start a coast to coast epidemic. Note that he’s not talking about diseases but things like style, fashion, and ideas. After I got about halfway through the book I realized that the same concept is works for our own physical and mental states.
If we are at a dip or low point we are easily influenced or vulnerable, meaning that one small action or idea can be our tipping point that pushes us farther down or pulls us up and puts us on a better path.
Think about this when it’s time to eat. One more serving of veggies, one less donut, or one healthy meal can be the tipping point that changes the way you think, act, and feel for the rest of your life.
